La Sagrada Familia
by Student, Sara B. , Florida

On Tuesday we had class in the morning. In class we went to the central park in Barcelona, where we were sent on a scavenger hunt, testing our Spanish speaking skills and interactions to locate statues, fountains, and other landmarks. After class, we received stipends for lunch and refilled our pantries with groceries from the supermarket. At the supermarket, we bought pasta, meat, salad, and other items to cook for dinner. In addition, we celebrated French Independence Day with our French program director, by enjoying crepes for dessert.

Also on Tuesday, we visited and explored Antoni Gaudi’s architectural masterpiece: La Sagrada Familia. We were given time to go inside and take pictures while appreciating the amazing church.  It was so exciting to get to see something so well known and talked about in Barcelona.

On Wednesday we had class in the morning and we went to a very beautiful park where we all got something to eat. We then sat down together and talked about old childhood stories in Spanish. This was a great and fun way to practice our Spanish skills. Overall it was a great couple of days and the trip has been a big success so far!
