Notes from Aix

For our last cooking group in Aix, we gave the students a special recipe for the Iron Chef competition. Team by team, they worked out rapidity, aesthetics, and flavors and cooked for a jury. It was a difficult decision to choose the best team! They prepared as first dish with a fresh salad of grapefruit and endives, then stuffed zucchinis with mashed potatoes, and for desert, fruit and chocolate. They all made delicious food, and we were really impressed by the dishes.

After the dinner, we went to the opening of the exhibition of our artists. All our art students had the opportunity to show their work to the others and celebrate together. We had sparkling apple juice as a treat.

This exhibition was perfectly followed the next day by the visit to the atelier of Cézanne. We saw his work place where he made his most famous paintings and got to know how he worked with light, color, and the changing environment. -Nina Lopez
