Nice 2018 Experience Part 2
by Student, Arianna R. , Quito, Ecuador

Today was another awesome day in France! I started off this morning with a chocolate croissant and some orange juice in the kitchen with my friends Courtney, Lily, and Ella. After breakfast, we had a class for three hours and we learned new vocabulary words about the city and we interviewed some of the people that lived here in Nice. It was interesting to talk to some of them because they all had very different opinions on what they liked and disliked about this city. it was a little awkward at first, but I learned a lot through that experience.

Restaurant menu in Nice

After class, we had two hours of free time so I went with my friends to get some lunch from the grocery store. We bought baguettes, ham, and fruit and went to the park to sit under a shady tree. I really enjoyed this, and so far it has been one of my favorite memories of this trip. After we had some free time for lunch, we had our elective courses. I was in a French conversation class and we sat in a café as a group and talked about the history of Nice and it was very interesting to talk about it.

After our three-hour elective class was over, we had a little more free time and so I went shopping with my friends. We took the tram to a nearby shopping street and we had lots of fun together. Not a lot of people in the stores speak Spanish or English, so I have really been able to practice my French and I know that it is getting better. Ella, Courtney, and Lily are from America so when I am with them, I practice my English and French at the same time and it is very helpful. They like to do a lot of the same things as me, so we have become very good friends the past couple of days. I am glad that I met them because it has made being far away from home not as bad.

Scavenger Hunting

After our free time, we met back at the residence hall to meet up with a Nother group that is in France. We got placed into groups and had a scavenger hunt around the town. We were given a list of places to find and we had to take a picture of them when we found them. It was fun to meet the other people from the other group and we had a good time together. The winners of the scavenger hunt, the group that found the most places, won a box of macaroons. I was in the winning group! The macaroons were amazing and they are one of my favorite things to eat when I come to France.

Today was a very long day, so I was very happy to get back to my room. we walked all across the city of Nice for the scavenger hunt so I was very tired and ready for a good nights sleep. Today was a good day and I cannot wait for tomorrow. I love the city and all my new friends, I know it is going to be a great trip.
