Last Days in Nice

Our last week in Nice has been packed with activities and unfortunately gone by far too quickly. We visited 3 art museums this week and saw quite a range of works. We took a guided visit of the Musée Chagall and learned a lot about his religious inspirations. We also got to visit MAMAC, Nice’s modern art museum, as well as the museum of photography.

To enjoy one of the cooler nights in the city, we went to the Parc de Verdure and watched The Artist at an outdoor theatre, under the full moon. It provided wonderful ambiance.

We took a day off from classes on Wednesday and went by private bus to Saint Tropez. We got to enjoy the world-class shopping, cool off a bit on the beach, and pick out our future yachts.

On Thursday we got to try some spécialités niçoises at René Socca. We tried socca, farcis, beignets, and pissaladière.

In the afternoon we went parasailing! We went the length of la Baie des Anges and got to see all of Nice from a new angle. Some of our landings were more graceful than others.

We finished out our last weekend with an excursion to San Remo, Italy. We spent the day practicing our Italian, buying gelato and relaxing on the beach.

Today we are going to Saint Paul de Vence, one of the most beautiful perched cities in France, for our last excursion. We learned a little bit about the city history and what it was like when Marc Chagall spent his final days there. It’s going to be tough saying goodbye to the Riviera on Tuesday! To celebrate the time we’ve spent together, we have a big party planned for tonight and our final dinner together tomorrow. -Jacob Hickey
