Hola from Madrid!

Hello from !

We were out near the Puerta del Sol this evening, enjoying the crowds, shops, lights, and ice cream. It’s the last night of our full week in this amazing capital city.

We’ve seen Goya and Velasquez (and Hieronymus Bosch!) at the Prado, Picasso’s Guernica at the Reina Sofia, and El Greco paintings in the gorgeous medieval town of Toledo. Okay…maybe I was more excited about the paintings that were the students, but it’s been great to see them engage with these deep parts of Spanish culture.

Meals have run from Indian food from a restaurant famous on Spanish television and delicious tapas from sidewalk cafes to burgers on the Gran Via and a picnic in Madrid’s Buen Retiro park.

It’s been full, fun, and most of all, a week of getting to know and like each other. This is a great group, and tomorrow we head out of Madrid for our much longer stay in Barcelona. We are all looking forward to it!
