First Week in Florence

We hit the ground running here in Florence! These first five days have been great!

The group arrived early in the afternoon on Saturday at Peretola Aeroporto. That evening, we took a wonderful exploratory walk around the city center. We enjoyed the lovely scenery together and ended the night with tasty gelato.

On the next day, in the morning, we went to Fiesole to visit the archaeological area. Then we walk along the Via Vecchia Fiesolana to have lunch in San Domenico. We had a delicious meal based on local products before going to visit the Fattoria di Maiano Botanical Garden. We had a lot of fun walking around and feeding the animals!

On Monday, the group met the morning’s teachers. Some students walked around Florence to learn Italian, Art History, and Film Making & Editing through immersion, while others sat in a comfortable studio for the Fashion Design course. In the afternoon, students rolled up their sleeves and took their first Italian cooking class, preparing delicious focaccia!

On Tuesday, after the morning class, we visited the Uffizi Museum. Students were fascinated by the painting and sculptures there and had a really great time!

On Thursday, we went to see Michelangelo’s sculpture of David at the Gallery of the Academy of Florence. Such a lovely afternoon, fully immersed in the Renaissance!
Over the weekend, we went to The Mall, a luxury outlet that offers top designer brands at affordable prices. We enjoyed our day, visiting Prada, Gucci, Armani, and Alexander McQueen shops feeling like Pretty Woman!

On Sunday, we decided to escape Florence’s heat with a jump into the Bellariva Swimming pool. We enjoyed the sun and the shade under tall trees, surrounded by Italian families anxious about the final match of the UEFA European Football Championship. Luckily everything turned out well, and Italy won!!!!!!!!
