by Chris Bond, Cádiz Program Director We have had a great beginning to out first week of classes. On Monday, we split into two language groups–beginning and advanced–and started language classes with Adrian and Alejandra.
The groups visited the market and supermarket, practicing new vocabulary on site, learning the words for fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and more.
In the afternoon, after lunch and siesta, everyone attended our Culture and Conversation class, learning about the history of Spain and Cadiz, and studying the major characteristics of Andalusian Spanish. After our classroom work, the students headed out into the city to interview locals about the dialects of Andalusia.
Today, after time in class, students are visiting a local cafe for churros, as well as mailing postcards to friends and family back home. And, this afternoon, we go surfing!
