Cannes, Karl Lagerfeld, and a Recording Studio

Bonjour!

Sunday, we all went back to Cannes, and for good reason; the weather is flawless, and the shopping is exquisite! Luckily, a few of my friends from home were in Cannes, and I was able to meet up with them. I met them at the Hotel Majestic Barriere, where we lounged by the pool and had lunch. I later met up with my peers and continued the day with some shopping.

Monday, I, unfortunately, fell ill again with a migraine and spent most of my day resting and visiting the doctor’s office and pharmacy. However, after some great prescription painkillers, I was back on my feet and eager to go shopping with one of my friends. We bought jewelry at Les Nereides, and I also bought some clothes. We then met up with the rest of the group to watch a silent film, The Artist, at a peaceful outdoor amphitheater at dusk. I was initially a bit hesitant about seeing a silent film, but my doubts were cleared about halfway through the movie… I really enjoyed it!

Today, Tuesday, the two French classes combined for a lesson about FASHION! After discussions concerning Karl Lagerfeld and societal constrictions on fashion (in French, of course), our teachers decided that there was no better way to practice the material from our lesson than to go shopping! We were instructed to discuss with shop owners (in French) a specific question regarding a Karl Lagerfeld quote. I went shopping with friends and bought an elegant silk shirt. One of my friends and I also bought absolutely delicious melon popsicles, which were too yummy not to mention.

For the rest of the day, we all ventured to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat again for water activities, sunbathing, and a homemade dinner at a nearby hotel. In preparation for our end-of-session performance, one of our instructors brought me (the singer) and another student (the pianist) to a recording/rehearsal studio in Nice to rehearse for the upcoming show with proper equipment. We grabbed some delicious sushi afterward since we didn’t partake in the homemade dinner at the St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat hotel.

Off to St-Tropez tomorrow!!! -Cynnie
