Antibes and Cannes

The group has officially made it through a week! After one Semaine of great activity, we started off the weekend in Antibes, a small town just 20 minutes away from St. Laurent. It was really beautiful, filled with sandy/rocky beaches and gorgeous ocean views!

We began our day in Antibes at the Picasso museum, which happens to be the artist’s old home, and is a beautiful mansion with an amazing view, filled with world-famous artwork. I especially enjoyed learning about Picasso’s inspiration and muses for his work, and seeing photos of him in action! After the museum, we made the journey to the beach by way of train and foot, and eventually got to the place where we were to go kayaking and paddle boarding!

I started off in a two-person kayak, and we paddled along the beach for a while, eventually finding our rhythm. Although we started in the back, by the end we were one of the fastest moving boats! Following this was paddle boarding, which I really enjoyed and found pretty easy! It was a little tough at first to keep my balance, but easy once I figured it out. When everyone was done kayaking, we ventured back to St. Laurent and finished out the night eating some delicious pizza on the beach!

On Sunday, our entire day was spent in the posh city of Cannes. We first visited the Film Festival Palace, a staple on the tourist to-do list (we saw many selfie sticks here). Next, we hiked to the top of a chateau and ate our lunches looking out over the city. When our meals were finished, we were given 4 hours of free time to do as we pleased-, which was awesome!

During my free time, I went shopping at Zara, Galleries Lafayette, and Monoprix bought macarons at Lauderee and sat at a little café, which is all French staples as well. After Cannes, which was probably my favorite excursion thus far, we returned home to a meal of Bolognaise with fruit salad for dessert! And finally, to end the weekend, my roommate and I watched Harry Potter in French with our host sisters, which was very fun!
