After a long day of traveling and resting with our homestay family upon our arrival, we finally spent our first day as a group.
We went through the Abbey Road Programs orientation, learning about local customs and safety procedures. We then took a placement test to determine our proficiency level.
Lunch was spent in downtown St-Laurent-du-Var, followed by a tour of the town. A local church, history about the coat of arms, war memorials and much more were included in the tour, followed by a meeting with the city’s mayor. We celebrated an otherwise ignored Fourth of July by singing The Star Spangled Banner with the mayor and other council members.
To end our first day in France, we ate as a group next to the beach, enjoying salads, pastas, and crêpes!
