Today was the first day of classes and full independence in Florence. I chose my major as film and cinema and my minor as Italian language studies. We started off the day with our major classes. I was excited to start working on the screenplay for our film. After getting to know a little bit about the 3 other kids and the 2 adults guiding us we began our creative process. We started relaxation activities that cleared our minds for the necessary brainstorming. These activities revolved around only using our instincts and brains to achieve relaxation. After exploring our minds and learning what it entails to have a good film we went on a walk. This walk was for us to gather any images or senses that can be used in our film. We strolled all over Florence and gathered information of all types. After returning to the apartment my roommate and me Enea met some of the girl friends we made and went out to a local Italian restaurant away from the tourist traps in the center of the city. I ate delicious stuffed rabbit with potatoes and Enea had spaghetti with octopus.

After lunch we went grocery shopping as an apartment. With 8 young men in our apartment we had to buy a lot of food, mostly meat and eggs. We spent 20 euros less of our given amount of money and have money to spare for next week. After shopping I chose to have free time instead of going on a walking tour of the city. I spent my time working out some ideas for the screenplay. We had dinner catered to the backyard garden and sat outside eating. The group really started bonding today as a whole and everyone made new friends. At night we watched the France vs. Germany game in the Euro cup, which France won. We went to bed tired and satisfied with a day well spent in Florence.
