Photos from Madrid

Yes, we are in Barcelona and enjoying Las Ramblas and Gaudi. But I just received some great images from our time in Madrid taken by our digital photography instructor, Almu, who joined us for that leg of the journey.

Check these out:

We came to the Parque de Buen Retiro, which is like Madrid’s version of Central Park, for a cool shady spot to orient ourselves to the summer program.
Here are the students with the great Spanish painter Francisco De Goya outside the Prado museum. Inside his late, dark paintings definitely made an impression.

The Plaza Mayor is full of street performers. We have a few of our own, too!
Las Ventas bullring is the center of the bullfighting world. Fights are held every Sunday, so we were not able to attend one, but we did get an amazing tour of this place of Spanish legend. In Barcelona’s state of Catalonia, bullfighting has been banned, but it still holds a fascination and evokes strong opinions!

We decided to stage our own version of a bull fight

We enjoyed a delicious dinner of tapas on this Madrid side street.

It’s bright in that Spanish sun! Here we are again in Parque de Buen Retiro.
