Last Days in Cadiz

by Claire D. I’m very sad to say that this weekend was our last in Cadiz. Therefore, we tried to pack as much fun as we could into the last couple of days. Claire D. carousel Saturday, we took the train to the nearby city of Jerez. One of our counselors, Adrian, lives in the city, and took us through a small tour of the town. Afterwards, we had some free time to explore the city. There was a huge carousel in the middle of the city that some of us got to ride on. At around 2, we headed over to the Jerez Zoo and spent a lot of time looking at all of the animals. They have a lot of animals that aren’t in the US zoos. It was very cool. To get back to the train station, we actually took the zoo train through the streets of Cadiz. The train couldn’t go more than 15 MPH and we got a lot of nasty looks from the drivers behind us, but it was totally worth it. Claire D. zoo train Sundays in Spain are traditionally very chill, laid-back days, as most shops and restaurants are closed. We decided to take a trip to Playa Victoria in New Cadiz. First however, we stopped at a very interesting Puppet Museum and then got to stand on top of the bridge separating New Cadiz and Old Cadiz. Playa Victoria was beautiful, much quieter than the nearby Playa Caleta. Claire D. Jerez Since classes were over Monday, the entire group took a bus to the nearby Aqualand water park. It was super fun and we all went on almost all the rides and swam in the wave pool. Today is our last day here in Cadiz. I’m very sad that this trip is ending. I’ve made so many great new friends and experienced something I never thought I would experience. Although I will be continuing on to Seville and Cordoba as part of the extension, I will definitely miss my time spent here in Cadiz. Adios!
