It’s hard to believe that tomorrow will be July, and Session 1 of Abbey Road’s College Prep program will be more than halfway done! The days have flown by, and our students are working so hard, seeing a lot of Boston, and making great friendships. Our first week of classes, we were concentrating on the college admissions process, but as you can see, we’re working on college application essays now.
However, I promise we’re getting out and about, too. It is summer, after all! We’ve been running all over — shopping and sightseeing all week, college visits to Boston College, Babson College, and Northeastern, a visit to Harvard and MIT on Saturday, and trips to Salem and Quincy Market on Sunday. Despite very ominous weather forecasts, the weather was spectacular this weekend– sunny and hot (but not sweltering), which has been perfect for our recent adventures in and around Boston.
This morning, they turned in their first college application essays, about challenges that they have overcome. Tomorrow we’ll go see the Red Sox face off against the San Diego Padres, and Thursday is the Fourth of July (!). It’s been a great week, and we’ve got another great week ahead of us. This is past the half-way point, session 1! You’re more than half way there, and you’re doing great work.
More soon! – Megan Hooper (Photos by Brittany Knotts)
