Day One in Paris – Notre Dame to Sacre Cœur

We got to eat lunch in the little neighborhood around the Notre Dame cathedral. Afterward, we had our lesson as we sat in the shade in front of it. We also got to walk to the top of the bell towers to see an amazing panoramic view of Paris.

Later we went on a boat ride on the river Seine and got a tour of Paris from the river.

That evening, we went to a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower and got to watch the tower light up.

The next day, we went to the La Musee d’Orsay. We got to see works from Picasso and Manet, along with many impressionist painters. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take pictures inside. Next we went to the tomb of Napoleon and got to walk through the crypt.

Then we walked across town the the Arc de Triomphe. We climbed all the way to the top. It was an amazing view.

Today we went to Versailles. The palace was purchased by Louis XIII from a rich man from Florence.

Then, in the afternoon, we sat in the Gardens of Versailles, which where gorgeous.

Then, in the evening, we took a walk to Sacre Cœur, a church sitting on top of a huge hill in the center of Paris. Before the church was built, the hill was the site of a communist revolt. The communist rebels hid in the hill’s gypsum mines while they were under siege.
