The amazing view from Piazza della Michelangelo
After an apertivo dinner, we hopped on the bus to go to the Piazza della Michelangelo across the river. There, we sat and watched the beautiful sunset. The panoramic view is spectacular and pictures don’t do it justice. If you weren’t interested in the scenery, the people-watching was also excellent. It seems the view is popular with both tourists, locals, and people trying to sell you things.
Bright and early Sunday morning were hopped on the bus to Viareggio. Viareggio was a quintessential European beach, with rented chairs and changing rooms. Everyone enjoyed tanning themselves and sampling the local seafood.
We ended our trip with a brief foray into Pisa. We couldn’t climb the Leaning Tower, but we certainly got lots of pictures of it. The gelato was also, as always, excellent and a welcome respite from the heat.
