My first full weekend with Abbey Road in Florence was wonderful! We went to a small town called Lucca, the beach, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
We went to Lucca on Saturday, and it was one of my favorite places so far. Lucca is a very small town that is surrounded by huge walls that acted as protection years ago. During our time in Lucca, we got to walk around for a couple hours, eating, shopping, or enjoying the street performers. We then met back in the main piazza to go bike riding on the walls of Lucca. We had one hour, which was enough time to go around the whole town twice. The views of the rest of Italy were breathtaking! I didn’t want to leave…
On Sunday, we spent the whole day at the beach and also got to walk around that area. My favorite part of the beach was the lunch; the fresh-caught fish on display at almost every restaurant tasted even better than it looked. Once we left the beach, we took a short drive to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We only needed one hour to be as touristy as possible by thinking of new ways to contort our bodies so they would look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa was falling on us. We came back to Florence and had an apperitivo, which is an Italian styled buffet dinner with delicious finger foods and salads.
I am enjoying every second of this trip! I am about to take my art history class, and we are going to a famous church known for its exquisite art. I can’t wait!
