Time in Avignon
by Student, Katie E.

This entire week has been filled with so many activities I can barely keep up with all the new things I’m learning. We went to Avignon to tour the Palais des Papes and ate lunch in the courtyard in front of the entrance where we saw performances featuring everything from saxophone playing to acrobatics. Later that same day we got to see the Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct. Aside from our weekend excursion, most of this week has been very art heavy. There was a tour of Cezanne’s workshop and house (two separate locations), and a photo gallery that only featured pictures of artists and their work. This included Matisse, Picasso, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and many other accomplished painters. Katie E. trumpet player Katie E. Palais des Papes Katie E. Pont du Gard There have certainly been no dull moments this week–even spending the better part of Wednesday afternoon relaxing at the park felt like a cultural experience. Much of my time has been spent working on taking pictures and videos for the project we’ve all been assigned to document our trip here in Aix. It is so hard to believe that there is less than a week left. I still feel like there is so much of the city that I haven’t seen or experienced yet, but I guess that is just a really good reason to come back here someday. In the meantime, however, I am going to be spending as much time as possible enjoying my remaining days in Provence. Katie E. dirt road
