I was told that four weeks at St. Laurent would fly by – and I’m sure they will – but these first three days must be the exception. All the students and our host families have already become so close — it seems impossible that we haven’t even been here half a week.
From the very beginning, my home stay mother was very welcoming, which definitely made me feel more comfortable on my first day. When our plane landed, she picked me and my roommate up from the airport, bought a loaf of bread on the way home, and treated us to a delicious dinner with a beautiful view on the terrace. I feel so lucky to have been placed with her!
My favorite part of a the week so far was when an impromptu group of Abbey Road students challenged an experienced team of six-foot-something French volleyball players to a match. Although the optimistic endeavor wasn’t entirely successful, I’m really excited to see what will unfold in our month here at St. Laurent if something so exciting happened on our first day at the beach.
