School’s Almost Out For a Spanish Summer

I can’t believe school’s almost over, and in one month I will be on my way to Spain!

I am going on the Barcelona-Madrid Spanish Cultural Immersion trip with Abbey Road Programs. I am taking Spanish language and Spanish conversation as my elective, and I will be housed in an apartment residence.

As you can see I’ve already begun packing to make sure I don’t forget a thing. I’m bringing:

  1. My sunglasses and comfortable shoes, so I can take in the beautiful Spanish cities of Madrid and Barcelona
  2. My bathing suit and sunscreen, so I can soak up the summer sun
  3. And of course, my Spanish culture guide and personal journal, so I can make the most of my time in Spain

I chose to study abroad this summer, because I want to travel, see the world, improve my Spanish language skills, and hopefully (fingers crossed) become fluent in Spanish. There are not many opportunities for high school students to travel to other countries to learn a second language. So when I found Abbey Road, I convinced my parents that I should not wait to travel the world and become bilingual, I should start now.

I am truly looking forward to experiencing all Spain has to offer. I can’t wait to see all the famous spots in Spain like La Rambla and La Sagrada Familia, as well as to discover new places like little unique cafes, where I can try churros and Spanish coffee. I am excited to go to Spanish markets and cook classic Spanish meals, to sit in little cafes simply soaking in all of Spain, and of course improve my language skills.

I am looking forward to my month in Spain this summer. This will be my first time traveling to a different country without my family. Next time I update my blog about my experiences, it’ll be from Spain!

¡Hasta Luego!
