1. Student Ambassador Fellowships

Our Student Ambassador Fellowships are akin to "mini internships." We are offering the four types of fellowships for summer 2010:
  • New Student Ambassador: Our New Student Ambassadors are extremely valuable resources for families who want a first hand account of an Abbey Road summer program. If you constantly update your Facebook and Twitter pages, love talking with your peers about travel, summer and study abroad then the Student Ambassador fellowship is perfect for you! As a New Student Ambassador, you are responsible for sharing your study abroad experiences with prospective Abbey Road students and families throughout the school year after your summer experience. Your duties will include handing out materials to your friends and peers, making fun postings about your summer plans on Abbey Road’s social media fan pages, and serving as a phone and email reference for prospective families next fall. Your work and profile will also be featured on the Abbey Road website!
  • Web Ambassador: Are you interested in getting your short stories or articles published? Do you want to learn how to blog and create an online journal? If so then consider applying for our Web Ambassador Fellowship. Web Ambassadors are young writers and bloggers who have a knack for composing short stories and articles, are interested in further developing their writing skills and wish to share their summer experiences with their peers. Before your program starts, you will write a short reflection talking about your expectations and goals for the summer. What do you hope to gain from your experience? What are your fears? What are your goals? Then, throughout the summer you will get the chance to collaborate with your Program Director and contribute your thoughts to the Official 2010 Program Blog. Share your stories, talk about your friends’ experiences and reflect on how your summer compares to your first personal reflection. Outstanding personal reflections will also have the chance to be published in the fall on the Abbey Road website and blog.
  • Program Journalist: Abbey Road Program Journalists are interested in journalism and creative writing with the chance to have their work published on the Abbey Road website. Program journalists are expected to keep a daily journal of the events and activities that have impacted or inspired them during their summer abroad. This is an excellent fellowship for students interested in having a keepsake of their time abroad and polished reflective pieces to include with college applications. Program Journalists are asked to take photos to support their reflections in addition to conducting several student interviews to supplement their personal accounts. These interviews will be used by the journalist at the program’s end as they draft their own unique article about their time abroad. The theme and tone of the Journalist’s article will depend on the material he or she has gathered throughout the summer. Outstanding pieces will be featured on the Abbey Road website and have the possibility to be published in conjunction with the Abbey Road’s Alumni Network.
  • Program Photographer: Program photographers start their work as soon as they arrive at their program destination. You will be asked to keep a detailed “digital” account of your experiences this summer with Abbey Road. Take your camera with you everywhere you go. You may document interesting classroom activities, social events, weekend day trips and the every-day life experiences you will encounter as you live like a true European local. Keep a clear record of your daily photos making sure to jot down any special notes about particular images (their location, an anecdote about why you took the image etc). Program Photographers are asked to put together a digital photo album upon the program’s completion. You will also be published on the Abbey Road blog! This album will be an excellent keepsake for you and your friends, in addition to a great way to share your study abroad experience with your peers.

    2. Study Abroad Scholarships

We are offering five $1,000 merit-based study abroad scholarships, one in each of the following subjects below. We are seeking students who have demonstrated passion, outstanding academic performance and commitment to their chosen subject, both academically and in extra-curricular life:
