My first day in Saint-Laurent-du-Var was amazing! Exhausting, but amazing.
It was wonderful meeting my host mother, who is an absolute sweetheart, and the town itself is incredibly beautiful. It’s so different from what I’m used to, but in a really nice way.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I understood most of what was being said, as one of my biggest fears was that I would be completely lost in a sea of fluent French speakers, completely incapable of communicating with them beyond basic, rudimentary French.
My roommate and I get along really well, and the view of the sea from our balcony is stunning. Yesterday there was a huge yacht parked right across from it, lit up beautifully in blue lights.
The other kids on the trip are really sweet as well, and I’m really excited to get to know all of them over the course of this month.
We toured the town, and its very interesting—full of rich history. We even got to meet the mayor! I can’t wait to see what else we get to experience during this trip!
