Last Week in Cadiz

by Hayden M. We are officially done with classes! However, it is sad because that means we only have a few short days left here in Cadiz. This week, we have gone and visited a castle that is right next to Playa La Caleta, the Cadiz history museum and the place where one of the Spanish constitutions was signed. The castle, more of a fort, had great views of the beach, and a small museum inside. We walked around for a little while then went to a nearby hotel to check out their spa services and restaurant. The hotel was gorgeous, so we sat out on the deck looking out at the ocean and hanging out before heading home. photo 1 Thursday, we had our last day of class which was bittersweet because it means we have to leave Spain soon. That afternoon, we went to the Cadiz history museum which had some amazing artifacts, but we could only stay for 30 minutes because we didn’t realize they closed earlier in the summer. photo 2 Later that same night, we went and watched the USA vs Germany game at a local restaurant. Friday, during morning class we watched El Laberinto del Fuano, which is a Spanish movie that I have seen twice already, but is one of my favorites. During our afternoon class we went to another museum and also saw where the constitution was signed. It was gorgeous inside, however we weren’t allowed to take photos. That night, a few of us went to hangout at Playa Victoria and walk around New Cadiz. Then, we took a trip to McDonald’s before heading back to Old Cadiz. We are now embarking on our final days here and I can honestly say I never want to leave. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails.
