Exploring the City

More than a week has passed since our arrival in Cádiz!

It’s amazing how fast time is flying by. I think we’ve all settled into our daily schedule, and classes are going well for everyone. My class has been reviewing useful vocab (like food!) and going on cool outings to places like El Mercado Central to talk to locals. The market has the biggest grapes I’ve ever seen!

On Wednesday, we had a group dinner at the restaurant La Gorda Que Te Da De Comer, which means, “The Fat Woman Who Feeds You”. We got to try plate after plate of Spanish cuisine, and I was so full by the end of the meal!

On Thursday, all the classes went to El Museo de Cádiz, which had a lot of old antiquities, paintings from different eras, and an exhibit of traditional puppets called La Tía Norica de Cádiz. In the afternoon, we went to El Castillo de San Sebastián to see a photography exhibit called “AmeriCádiz”, which showed the connections between Cádiz and America. We had great views of La Caleta when walking back to town. Tonight we are going to watch a Flamenco performance. After struggling through a few Flamenco lessons myself, I am excited to see some professionals dance! -Dana
