Cote D’Azur

Time is flying by too quickly here in Nice. Everyone knows their way around town now and we are getting comfortable using our French around the neighborhood. The weather has been beautiful and we had a brief cool down early in the week, which was a much-needed relief from the Cote D’Azur sun.

This week has also brought us several opportunities to burn some serious calories. One morning we went down to the beach for an early yoga class and also climbed up to the chateau for a Zoomba class. We had a soccer match with the students from the St-Laurent program on Wednesday afternoon and also played some late night games of tennis in Vauban.

On Thursday we had the choice between a pottery workshop and a cupcake workshop.

On Friday our photography class went to the top of Mont Boron to do some portrait work. It was a beautifully clear day, so we could almost see all the way to Antibes.

In the evening we had our final Master Chef competition… sushi! And a special mention to Kyle, Luis, and Teddy for trying to overdose the staff on wasabi.   Congrats to Doug and Jesse who out-cooked the competition again!

Our weekend excursions may have been the best of the month. Saturday we took a charter bus north into the Var region and spent the day at the Gorges de Verdon.

It was a beautiful change of scenery and it was very nice to swim in some cool, fresh water. We rented canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats for the afternoon and had a good time exploring the lake and surrounding mountains.
