The past few days were full of fun and excitement found in Cannes, Gorge du Verdon, and St-Laurent. The weather has been beautiful, and I cannot believe the first three weeks have already gone by. I am trying to cherish every moment I have left in France!
A few nights ago, our entire group went out for karaoke. Some sang American classics, like Britney Spears and Spice Girls, while others dared to sing in French. I was able to spend some time on the beach with friends when we had free time. It was a lovely evening and hilarious to hear everyone sing.
The next morning, I had to wake up earlier than normal, for we were taking a bus to Gorge du Verdon. After a two hour bus drive into the mountains, we finally arrived at the Lac de Sainte-Croix. The water was remarkably blue, looking far cleaner than most lakes in the United States. Beautiful cliffs lined the turquoise lake and towered over us when canoeing. We found rocks to climb and cliff jumped from about thirty feet above the water- it was amazing! After traversing farther along the lake, we found a waterfall before returning to the shore. It was one of the most fun excursions yet!
I found myself in Cannes the morning after and felt overjoyed to finally find a sandy beach in the rocky South of France. After getting lost trying to find old Cannes, I spent the day on the beach with friends, tanning and swimming in the cool ocean. I indulged myself and walked along the famous promenade in Cannes that hosts some of the most prestigious brands, such as Celine and Cartier.
I’m looking forward to a final week here in St-Laurent-du-Var with friends and my host family! -Amy
