A Weekend of Outings for Aix Students

Saturday morning is the most lively day in Aix: it is the market day, when everyone goes to shop for local goods and products. From fresh flowers to freshly cooked bread, goat cheese, honey, olives, apricots, and strawberries, our students went in groups to shop for the picnic.

All together, we shared a delicious picnic in Parc Jourdan under the shade of an oak tree. To forget about the heat, we went to the swimming pool in the afternoon. Nice12

For dinner, we were treated to an amazing meal by the first cooking group! Pâtes au fromage and caprese salad served together as a first dish was a real success. Then we decorated our cafeteria and tasted some sweet specialties of Aix, like calisson.

On Sunday, we had an excursion to Arles, formerly a Roman city, where they were holding the famous annual photo festival. All the patrimonial monuments are added to by exhibitions of photographs under the theme of black and white. From the coliseum to Henri Lartigue, we discovered the cohabitation of artistic photography and antique monuments.Nice2 After dinner at the restaurant, we went back home on the bus, singing the best tunes. -Nina Lopez
